Aparajita Mishra
Aparajita is Regional Legal Counsel for Mott MacDonald, a global engineering consultancy, and advises their Middle East, South Asia and Africa business. Aparajita pursued Masters in Law from Queen Mary University of London, and specialises in disputes and transactional advisory. Her legal expertise includes advising on Engineering Procurement & Construction Management projects, Lenders Technical Advisory appointments, and Public Private Partnerships in transport, built environment, climate change, infrastructure and education sector.
Aparajita is a key thought leader in the region and continues to collaborate with stakeholders on pressing issues of climate change risks, shareholder capitalism, Equality Diversity & Inclusion. She was recently honoured with the Rising Star Award 2022 at the Middle East Legal Awards for her contribution to the legal profession and to the wider community.

Served as the first director of the Dubai International Arbitration Centre (DIAC) from its establishment in May 2003 to June 2010. Obtained his Ph.D. degree in International Commercial Arbitration from Edinburgh University, UK. Has lectured in a variety of well-established universities in Jordan and the United Arab Emirates.An author of several publications on various legal topics, including arbitration, private international law, commercial matters, and a Ph.D. thesis on “The Effect of Public Policy on the Enforcement of Foreign Arbitral Awards”.

John McGowan
John has lived and worked in Abu Dhabi for over 20 years. His clients include multinational corporations, energy companies, and local UAE companies. His principal focus is dispute resolution. He counsels clients on the rules, procedures and laws applicable in UAE arbitrations, as well as on “post-arbitration” enforcement proceedings including the New York Convention. He serves as both an advocate and an arbitrator.
